Jack v.2.0

Jack is out of surgery and doing well.  He was in surgery for about an hour and 15 minutes. Everything went smoothly, and his breathing is already much quieter.  His had a classic case of Laryngomalacia. The Top of the Larynx is typically short and wide, and Jack's is long and narrow.

In the photo on the left the curly white area is the top of tube, and you should be ale to see farther and more clearly past it to the dark area in the middle.  When Jack inhales, the flaps and folds get sucked in and create the restriction.  The doctor made two incisions and removed two sections of the front (in the picture on the left) of the extra part of the tube.  This will eliminate the restriction and help Jack breath more easily.  The photo on the right is a magnified look at the same part of the throat as the photo on the left.  He removed the area marked in black pen on both sides of an imaginary center line.

So as I said  before, Jack is doing great! He will be coming home tomorrow morning and should be pain free already.  We will post more pictures and write more later.
