Austin...

Jack and I took a trip to Austin this past weekend while Mark stayed home to work. I have afew kind of long but pretty cute stories about my dad...

So, I am constantly trying to figure out ways to make it easier to pack for austin (If you havent heard babies come with lots of stuff!). We left a portable crib and extra tub along with some burp cloths and bibs, a few less things to worry about. This time I decide to have my mom and dad pick up some baby food for Jack so I wouldnt have to worry about that either. I e-mailed them Jacks requests organic oatmeal with DHA, 1st organic fruits and veggie, make sure you get bananas. Friday afternoon I got a call from my dad, he had already been to 2 grocery stores looking for organic oatmeal. There was not any organic oatmeal let alone oatmeal with DHA. He thought I was playing a cruel trick on him. He had found organic bananas and would pick up some veggies at the next grocery store what ever looked fresh. It suddenly occurred to me that my father was talking about big people food and had not ventured into the baby food isle. He was able to get everyhting requested at the next store once he went to the right place.

Friday we stayed with my dad he had some alone time with Jack while my mom and I had a girls night. Saturday after Jack and I went to take pictures (they are going to be awesome!) we hung out at my dads and met my mom for dinner. Before we went to dinner I had my dad give Jack a bath while I got ready. I went in to check on them about 15 minutes into the bath. I found dad on the floor next to the tub with Jack sitting in the baby tub filled as full as it can go splashing away. Dad didnt understand why we would put him in a puddle to bathe...

Saturday we slept at my moms house, we went swimming on sunday and drove home.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

The Rest of July...

We have had a very bust month. We started out with 4th of July and solid foods. Mid-month we went to visit Melissa, Myla and Colin in New Orleans (the 5 hour car ride with Jack was not our greatest idea). My dad (Grandpa Jim), Ileana and Grammy came to visit a few weekends ago and this weekend my Mom is coming to visit. In the middle of all of this I have traveled to New Orleans twice for business, and we are now in the process of interviewing nanny's! Attached here are a few pictures from our adventures. You will see a lot of aquarium pictures, because went to the New Orleans aquarium with the Goodnight's and the Houston aquarium with my dad. There are also some photos from Jack's first carousal ride.

Jack is starting to really interact with us. He just started reaching to be picked up or to be put near or in a toy he wants to play with. He is screeching, grunting and laughing at us. He is grabbing for things with both hands and is able to put his foot in his mouth. IT is so much fun to watch him grow and develop. He has gotten much better at eating solid food, and we can safely say that he sleep through the night. In fact I think he may like sleeping at night a little too much. He is in bed everyday a 7:00, (if we wait any longer he become extremely grouchy) and will sleep until 6:00... During the day however, he does not want to take naps. Poor Annette has to fight with him everyday in order to get him to sleep.

That pretty mich summarizes all of our activities and Jacks development in a nutshell. Here are the pictures...

Yummy Yummy in Jack's Tummy!

Today Jack had his first tast of solid food! It was more runny mushy then solid, but it was eaten off a spoon and not from a bottle. For his fist meal he had single grain oatmeal with a tiny bit of prunes. Yum!

Funny story, yesterday at the doctors they measured his head circumference and i dont remember what it was but I do know that it is in the 10nth percentile. So I bought the oatmeal with DHA (helpful for brain and eye development) just in case.

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Getting ready
Here comes the airplane...

Yea!
Arghhhhh....

no thank you.
my hand still tastes better.

Today Jack had his 4 month well check. Everything checked out great. Here are his latest stats:

Weight: 14lbs 8oz -50th percentile
Length: 26"-90th percentile (yes that means top 10% for height, not sure were that came from)

Dia De Independencia

Jack had a great time on his first 4th of July weekend. We went to Quinton's 3rd B-Day party, we went to Clint and Nicole's house, where I dominated at Tiger Woods 10, and we went to Granettes house for Burgers and Fun on the 4th. It was fun, but these weekends are brutal on Jack's sleep patterns. We spent all day today trying to get him settled back into his normal routine. it was quite the battle of wills. I'm glad to report, dispite much resistance from Jack, he is fast asleep at 8:00 tonight. Just 30 minutes late. Not too bad.

Here are some pictures of Family and Jack. Jessica and Lance finally got to meet him. Yay!

June

It has been a very exciting June. I know we haven't blogged, but with good reason...We've been busy!

We started our Month in Austin. We visited The Bueide's first, where we had dinner, and John and I played Tiger Woods Golf on Wii. It was great to see them again. The next evening we went to a wedding and saw Sara and Todd. I don't have any pictures, but I am SURE that my great pal Sara will send me some :)

Jack and Jack

Then our trip took a strange turn. We were enjoying ourselves at Chris and Leslie's house, when we heard a strange thud come from the fireplace. It turns out that a squirrel had fallen into the chimney. We decided the best course of action was to open the flu and try to catch the squirrel in a bucket, and set him free. Much to our surprise it actually worked much like planned. Pull open the chimney, and out fell the squirrel...Right into the awaiting bucket! I kinda assumed he would escape and we would have to let the dogs chase it out of the house.

That's a BIG squirrel

The following week was one where Merissa had to go to New Orleans again. Which meant Daddy and Jack time. We had two evenings together. I have tons of respect for all you single parents out there. It is really tough doing everything alone.

Father's day was great. Jack gave me some #1 Dad boxers. I'll save you the visual and not post a picture. Last week was more of the same. Work, Jack and sleep. I did get Jack a present though. His first set of golf clubs!

Sweet!

Yep they're real.

Also real.
